Weddings and Baptisms

You can contact Sidney Coleman to discuss either weddings or baptisms and he will more than happy to talk to you about your day. Weddings and baptisms can be held in either Scone Old or St David’s and indeed, we have a wedding at Scone old on 1st July and one at St David’s the following day.

Weddings

Now to the nitty gritty!

Fees

Okay – now it gets serious. Money! Everyone knows that weddings are not cheap because of all the desired arrangements. The fees for use of the premises are £310, covering lighting, heating and general use of the sanctuary. This includes the organist and the beadle. There is no fee for the minister but i an additional donation can be made to the minister for his professional services

Photographs / Videos

You may want to have photographs of your wedding day. We don’t encourage flash photography during the service itself, simply to retain dignity and to avoid distraction. We are more than happy, however, for photos to be taken after the service in different areas of the church building and grounds. Video cameras are also welcome, assuming common sense is used in their operation.

Flowers

Flowers need to be organised well in advance. Please contact the church officer to agree a suitable period for entry to the building for flower arranging to take place. Normally, this coincides with the wedding rehearsal. Flowers can be left in the sanctuary for Sunday’s worship and then distributed to the housebound, bereaved and hospitalized in the community. There is no obligation to do this, however, so please simply inform us of your personal wishes

The Schedule

This next section is VITALLY IMPORTANT: The minister, of course, is legally authorised to conduct weddings. However, on no account can he carry on with proceedings if the marriage schedule (obtainable from the local registrar) is not available on the wedding day! Please make sure that you bring your schedule to your rehearsal so that it cannot be forgotten about on the day itself.

Rehearsal

Regarding the rehearsal mentioned above, please take a note of the date and time that the minister will arrange with you. This is an important trial run for the wedding party so that you can all see where to stand etc,

Please inform the other members of your wedding party when this rehearsal will commence so they can book it into their diaries too.

Music & Hymns

Music plays an important part in most weddings. Here you have a great degree of choice. There are many voluntaries, hymns, and modern worship songs that can easily be incorporated, but please do speak to our organist if you have any special requests or need help in this area. It is always best to try and choose hymns that people generally know.

Finally

That covers most of the practicalities, but if there is anything else you wish to discuss, please contact the locum minister.

Baptism

We would be equally pleased to discuss baptism with you if promising to bring your son or daughter up in the Christian Faith was something you wished to consider. Simply contact our locum minister, Sidney Coleman, for further details.

We warmly welcome you and your new family member to worship with us any Sunday at 11am. A crèche is available at morning worship.

There have been two baptisms this month and these are always very enjoyable occasions for the whole family of the church as well as the individual family.
