Minister

We are currently in a vacancy situation, with our last minister, Rev Bruce Thomson, having retired after 26 years service at Scone Old, in December 2009.

As the Scone New and St Martins’ minister moved to a new charge in April 2010, a union of the three churches was agreed by the Kirk Sessions and the Presbytery of Perth. This is now the ongoing situation and the Nominating Committee, appointed to find a new minister, is hard at work doing all the necessary preparatory information gathering before advertising the post.

In the meantime, Rev Sidney Coleman, was appointed as Locum Minister at Scone Old as from January 2010 and then took on the vacancy at Scone New and St Martins when Rev Jim Gemmell moved to his new post.

It was decided to use the two churches on a month to month basis and Sidney has ensured that congregational attendances have been very good during the vacancy.

Rev Ken Pattison was appointed as Interim Moderator to look after the running of the the three Kirk Sessions and he has had many meetings to attend over the past six months.
