About Us

Scone Old, in its current set up, dates back to 1805, when the building was moved from its original site at Scone Palace, stone by stone to its present location. It was the first building of the new village of New Scone, to identify it from its predecessor near Scone Palace, of Old Scone. Over the years the village has come to be known as Scone, and the “new” part has disappeared.

There is a membership of just under 600, mainly from the village of Scone, but it includes members who worship at St David’s, Stormontfield, which is a daughter church of Scone Old and it was built in 1897. (See St David’s for more detailed information.)

The full history of the church can be read in George Ritchie’s book, “Stones of Destiny”, which was published in 1986.

Entrance to the church by the main east door and also showing the Session House, which has a small vestry for the minister and a meeting room for the elders prior to services.
