Facilities

There are two halls available for use by both church organisations and local village groups.

Please contact Alan McKinnell (01738552150) to find out which dates are available and the cost of hiring the halls. The halls are heavily used, especially in the evenings, but there are usually some dates available for hire.

The main hall (Elizabeth Ashton Hall) can seat up to 150 in theatre style or 120 at tables and is designed as a multi-purpose hall for all types of use, from conference to games and parties.

The smaller hall, the A K Bell Hall, was originally opened in 1974, and can seat up to 50 in theatre style and a similar number at tables.

The kitchen has an electric water heater, a sixplate electric hob and double oven, two sinks and a fridge/freezer.

The main hall was built in 1987, largely due to the generosity of Mr William McKenzie, who left a bequest to the church, to be used for the fabric of the church. It was decided to extend the small hall by building another hall and replace Church House, which had been gifted to the church in the aftermath of the First World War, but was by the 1980s, too small for the purposes of the church. The bequest was in memory of Mr McKenzie’s wife, Elizabeth Ashton, who had attended Scone Old in her youth.

A Trust Fund was set up and the money was used to build the hall but there was still a considerable amount left over, and due to careful husbandry of the funds by the trustees, the Aston McKenzie Trust has contributed to many different projects over the past twenty years. These have included the purchase of an electric organ, the repointing of the church, the repair and replacement of the two large windows in the church and the surfacing of the car park.

There is a large car park which can take up to 85 cars and is, of course, used extensively when there are weddings and funerals, as well as the normal church services.
